Provision of training and information
Aid is available for training and skills development. As part of the LEADER Approach, such activity must fit under the broad headings of farm diversification, support for micro-enterprises, encouragement of tourism or conservation and upgrading of rural heritage.
Local groups will decide where gaps exist in the current skills base and tailor their programmes accordingly. Areas that are likely to be targeted include;
- training in information and communications technology (ICT)
- coaching and mentoring in business skills
- training in traditional rural skills
- training for diversification enterprises
Eligible Activities:-
- provision of training and information, including business skills and technical skills, in suppport of rural micro-enterprises, non-agricultural farm diversification busineses and rural tourism businesses
- support shall not include courses of instruction or training which form part of normal education programmes or systems at secondary or higher level
The type of training to be supported through the programme will vary according to need, but will only be provided where a gap in provision exists. In broad terms, however, the following activities may receive support:-
- training in ICT skills
- training, coaching and mentoring in business skills
- training in traditional rural skills
- training related to diversification away from agriculture
Eligible Costs:-
- trainers/facilitators/mentors
- training needs assessments
- training venues and refreshments
- course materials and examination fees
- couse evaluation costs
- project management costs for training organisers
- small scale infrastructure/capital costs
Outputs (we need to measure achievements by counting the following):-
- The number of businesses/enterprises assisted
- Number of days of training received by participants
